If you missed the past lessons go to the blog and read”
Have you ever wanted to know your unique purpose in life? It’s hard to know who you are meant to be with all these distractions. Defining yourself is the most important factor in life. We have to go deep to the roots to know your value and principles. You have to be aware of your thinking, feeling, and action to define your inner beliefs in values.
I want to ask you a question, What are your values? A wise man once said...
“You are the one that knows yourself, or how much you are worth to yourself and for how much you are selling yourself... Consider at what price you sell your integrity, but please, for God Sake , don’t sell it cheap”
(By Socrates)
Are you lowering your values for other people? Knowing your self-worth with values shapes your decisions for your life. If you value tangible things such as money, car, and houses. That will not bring you happiness, those things come and go but humanity is forever. Just think what the world would be like if you and people replace money with LOVE. If you have the spirit of Love in your heart there is no room for Hate.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
Love is contagious and everlasting. It cost you nothing but makes you rich in spirit. See it is the little things in your life that you can value and bring happiness such as integrity, loyalty, compassion, kindness, gratitude, health, peace, family, and friends.
One of the biggest values is giving. You are naturally born and built to give yourself to be a servant for others in need or just in general. If you give more of yourself the joy it feels in your heart. Making other people's day better because you were in it just for a minute is very impactful. Making an impact on the world with the power of giving your positive energy with love can change the world. It brings happiness to the world. You may find happiness in money, achievement, and success, but don’t you still feel empty? You probably tell yourself it is not enough so you seek more money, add more achievements to the list and find a different level of success. The list goes through the roof, you can continue to seek these things but never be satisfied. You might be satisfied temporarily it will not last long. See once you value Love in your heart along with giving, see that is everlasting happiness.
I know you say to yourself “I’m tired of giving my love to people and people taking advantage of me”. See the loss is on them not you. They didn’t value you at that time and one day they will miss it. What if you give your love to other people with nothing in return? Not having expectations to receive Love in return feels amazing. See being indifferent allows you to have balance so when you do receive it in return is an addition to your life.
In Matthew 22:39
“Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself”
Are you loving people the way you want to be loved? Selfless love is so powerful that no money can buy which is priceless.
Let me ask you again, now what do you value in life?
In the next step write the questions and answer truthfully as possible. I want you to go deep and don’t just answer the questions with just one word. Also, do not scroll to the end unless all questions are answered.
List all your values. Push yourself to list a minimum of 10.
Organize your list that you value the most to least.
Are the people in your life values the same things in that order?
Can you add an act of Love to those values?
Once you understand your value, your decision you make for your life will change. You either going to lose people or attract more positive people in your life. The people that use to take advantage of you can no longer push you around because your values are embedded in your heart and soul. You will start to know your self worth and no one can’t take that away from you. You start to build confidence in the people you meet. You will know what you want in life and not even entertain people that do not have the same values as you. Taking control of your values is the big step to define your purpose. Remember you are unique in this world and possess something great no one can see, touch or take away.
In 1 John 2:15
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”
You have to be careful about what you watch on the media and the music you are listening to. You will feed your mind with what the world value instead of the value you were born with. You can lose your values because you start to adapt to the way the world works. That can manipulate you to change your values. Just remember your purpose is within you by setting your values and principles.
We will discuss principles for next week which is the foundation for your system of values and beliefs.
